Leo’s Forest Fun
In the woods, where tall trees grow,
Little Leo loves to go.
He spots a slug, so bright and yellow,
Sliding (shhhh), soft and mellow.
A nervous chipmunk peeks around
A fallen log upon the ground.
Peeping out a soft hello,
SQUEAK SQUEAK! she hides again below.
Then ZOOM! A hummingbird flies by!
Green and red against the sky!
He sips some nectar, quite polite,
and VROOM! he disappears from sight.
The boy looks up—there’s something small!
A tree frog high above it all.
One BOING! And SPLASH! Into the pond!
RIBBIT RIBBIT— ZIP! He’s gone!
What’s that there, behind those leaves?
A black bear eating blueberries!
CRUNCH! and MUNCH! She has a snack,
Then lumbers off to take a nap.
The wind goes WHOOSH and branches sway,
The sun and rain come out to play.
Leo plays, and skips, and runs,
Exploring all the forest fun!
